Marina Cove: A United, Simple, and Elegant Design

Creating a Sense of Cohesiveness

Trusting the designer at heart, the customer simply puts forward several basic requirements: having a garage, a swimming pool, and a professional studio. Based on these expectations, designer Michael Liu comes up with an overall designing strategy that integrates the outdoor scenery with the interior of the house, renewing both its exterior and interior using various geometry, ratio, and lines.

This six-storey detached house, named Marina Cove, showcases a unique designing notion and possesses a sense of harmony. With a total area of 3,800 sq.ft., each floor has its own distinct design, yet the entire house maintains a united, simple, and elegant aesthetic.

The lower ground floor features a hallway and a garage, with a specially designed seven-foot teakwood door that balances the appearance of the house. On the ground floor, the living room boasts a full-height sliding and folding glass door that, when fully opened, integrates the unbounded swimming pool and sea view outside with the interior, creating an incredible unity.

The kitchen and dining room on the first floor are enhanced by a huge sliding French window, which greatly enhances the internal spaciousness and refreshes the original area. The second floor houses the studio, where sound-absorbing and anti-rebounding effects are achieved through the use of 'laying' techniques. Equipped with a 9.2 surround stereo, 3D projector, and a 150-inch acoustically transparent screen, the studio offers a cutting-edge entertainment experience.

The daughter's room on the third floor features a hidden door leading to a bathroom. The bathroom design focuses on purity and nobleness, with white marble and cleaning utensils dominating the space. The bathroom is connected to the cloakroom, with a clear-glass sliding door separating the two areas. The floor platform of the bathroom features an S-shaped copper hose that utilizes the remaining heat from hot water to create floor-warming effect, saving energy and being environmentally friendly.

The master bedroom on the fourth floor is designed with a full-height glass wall that separates the bedroom and the bathroom, creating a spacious visual effect. The bathroom features a horizontal bar of deep-gray granite, matching with white cleaning utensils. Similar to the daughter's bathroom, an S-shaped copper hose is installed for floor-warming effect. The balcony is replaced with a Jacuzzi offering a 180-degree sea view. Privacy is ensured with an electric-frosted glass button that turns the clear glass into frosted glass when needed. The opened ceiling allows sunlight during the day and a view of the starry sky at night, creating a stress-free atmosphere.

The master bedroom also features full-height cabinets that act as a partition between the bedroom and the cloakroom. A small doorway leads to a control room with a security system, telephone, and refrigerator, providing a safe space in case of burglary. The study is located in the attic on the fifth floor, providing a silent and secluded space away from the studio.

Marina Cove's fashionable interior design delivers a sense of plain beauty, creating an artistic and realistic home. The integration of the outdoor scenery, the utilization of various design elements, and the attention to detail make this design a standout example of united, simple, and elegant residential architecture.
